About

Hi! My name is Cecilia Stagni and I am originally from Italy. When I moved to San Diego in 2009, I started taking art classes even though my background was completely different. I have a degree in Electrical Engineering but I’ve always been interested in art my whole life and I decided to became an artist during my very first art class! I took art classes in many different places, some very well renowned and other smaller and more intimate, and I had many different art teachers to learn from. All of them had in common the traditional style of painting, like the great Masters of the Impressionism, both European and American.

I am interested in painting people, animals, still lifes and landscapes in a traditional style. My goal is to create a appealing image of something real, it could be a person, an animal, etc.

Feel free to contact me anytime if you have any questions regarding prices of available paintings and /or commissions.

Art Statement

We are all deeply connected to the human figure, since ancestral times. I am drawn by it. To me, the human figure goes beyond the appreciation of its forms or beauty. I feel the powerful secret it holds, the mystery of life itself. I like to dwell in this mesmerizing process of recreating what has been already created and channeling the emotions through its shapes and colors.

Painting is like dancing with the forms, being oil paint the perfect medium for this dance.

I am inspired by the old Masters of the 19th century with a colorful and abstract approach. Color can convey so much. I use it to create contrast between the subject and the background, so that the human form is almost detached by its surroundings.

With my paintings, I research the connection with the viewer. This connection iswhat makes us look over and over at a painting, feeling completely immersed in it and always searching what makes us go back to it.
