Muse Project

I asked women to partecipate to the Muse Project by sending me a picture that represented something about themselves or had an important meaning for them. I’m honored to paint real women, with real lives and stories to tell! The Project is still on going.

“Do you see me? Who do you think I am?
I am a woman, I am a mother, I am a fighter, I am a scientist, I am a dancer, I am a thinker, I am a phoenix. I am all these things at once. I am ilenia.
And who are you to judge me?”

“I have a natural talent for matchmaking, it’s just a part of who I am. If I had a magic wand, I’d use it to banish loneliness because connecting people and bringing joy is my true passion. Whether it’s helping a buyer find their dream home or creating unforgettable travel experiences, it’s all about spreading happiness and fostering connections. Being a matchmaker and bringing people together, that’s my superpower. Another huge part of my identity is being an “ambassador” for Italy, my country. Sharing and teaching about its beauty, culture, amazing food, and everything that makes Italy so special is something I do continuously, effortlessly. I aspire to ignite passion. What else can lead us to a more fulfilling life?”

“It was not about the trip. It was not about the place. It was not about the dinner. It was about a suspended moment in time, a feeling of contentment and serenity. Experiencing the present moment in its purest form: no everyday worries and responsibilities, just going back to those youthful days when nothing else mattered but the present.

“I’ve chosen to live my life fully, despite the challenges of managing type 1 diabetes for over 11 years. The tattoo on my back is a symbol of the strength and resilience I’ve built throughout this journey. It’s a constant reminder of the grit needed to face the daily obstacles of my condition. This photo, taken during a family trip, reflects my commitment to not let diabetes define or limit me, but to embrace life and its experiences with courage and determination. We are not defined by our conditions or by others’ perceptions of us. We are who we choose to be, and we have complete control over that.”
